Gavin Aslett is an artist primarily known for his Photographic and Graphic Design work.

 

He was born in South London on 26th June 1970.

 

Gavin Aslett's work came to prominance in the early 1990s.  

 

He studied General Art and Design at the School of Art and Design, Croydon and then went to the acclaimed Bournemouth and Poole College of Art and Design, where he gained his HND/B.A. Hons in Photography, Television and Film.  (Fellow successful students were Nick Knight, Wolfgang Tilmans and Andrea Giacobbe).

 

Upon leaving art college he successfully illustrated book/record covers for such clients as Vintage Books, Virago Books, The Senate, Peter Dyer Associates, Headline Publishers and Mute Records.

 

In 1992 he won the Vogue Cecil Beaton Photography Award and exhibited one man shows in London at St Martin-in-the-Fields Crypt Gallery, Cyberia Cafe and The Tea Rooms des artistes through out the 90s.

 

From 1993 and through out the 1990s he pursued a career in Television Broadcast Motion Graphic Design and worked for such television channels and post houses as VTR, Channel One, ITV and CNBC.

 

He also took photographs, directed and worked on post production on various music videos and adverts in the 1990s - 2000s including Stone Roses, Skunk Anansie, Tricky, Tony Di Bart, Swerve Driver, Visage, Steve Strange and Suzerain.

 

Since 2008 he has been living outside the UK, concentrating on his private painting work as opposed to working in a commercial sense.

 

He still continues to do his own personal photographic work and is engaged in producing a retrospective exhibition of his work of his photographic, graphic design and painting work sometime in the near future.
